Cabin in Denali:
No electricity or running water--but that pot belly stove is sure nice!
Bear-proofing the cabin by putting spikes in the shutters.
The park rangers must patrol the park year round to keep out poachers and help preserve Denali for generations to come. In winter, they patrol by dogsled--traveling in 40 below weather between cabins such as this one. Cabins are located every 15-20 miles or so and can make the difference between life and death.
To keep out bears and protect the occupants and their food supply, cabin windows have shutters studded with nails.
