Rafting on Nenana River:

This was supposed to be a gentle float trip down the quieter section of the river but that trip was cancelled and we were offered this one--the white water version. The river is glacier-fed and icy cold. We had a great time! Not sure if I mentioned this before but glacier-fed waters are a silky gray color, not clear. You cannot see the bottom even in the shallows. Silt is formed as the glacier breaks down and grinds up rock. You can always tell a glacier-fed river by its oddly gray water.
